I’m Bob Galen. I’m a:

  • Father of 4 children, two boys, and two girls, all over 30 and officially out of the house.

  • Grandfather to 4 grandchildren, three girls, and one boy.

  • Pet lover of two dogs and two cats.

  • Loving husband to Diane, who thankfully puts up with me.

I live in Cary, NC. I moved here in 1996, and I’ve been here for ~25 years.

I was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania, including cities like Reading, Lancaster, Mt. Joy, Ephrata, Elizabethtown, and Hershey. To give you a sense of the locale.

I’m a veteran of the US Army and attended Millersville University.

But that’s enough personal stuff about me.

I’m also an agile enthusiast, practitioner, coach, teacher, student, and evangelist. I was “turned on” to agile approaches to software development in the mid to late 1990s.

You can get to know more about me by reading my Read.Me file here and by reviewing my Ethics statement here.

Ultimately, Agile Moose allows me to share my thoughts and endeavors on all things…Agile.

My Mission

My mission is to help others see and achieve the joy I’ve realized in building products with an agile mindset. Where I’ve learned that a balance across:

  • The team

  • The customer

  • The business

is required for agile to be done well. And thus the rub. How do you get the guidance to understand what to do, what to emphasize, and how to mature?

We’re here to help guide your agile journey.

Bob is the best of the best. I have been fortunate enough to work with him and he had an immense impact on the team and company. Software deliveries were more predictable with more product delivered. Plus, the team had a great time coming to work. He is pretty unbelievable until you see him in action.

He is a great communicator. Although he is an expert on Agile, he is neither inflexible nor preachy. He encourages teams to collaborate and work together to find the best solutions to their unique problems. I can always tell people who have worked with him or been influenced by him because they have inherited that trait and that’s his secret power.
